PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Reporting directly to the Director of Jewellery, the Senior Jewellery Designer will be in charge of the development of all design activities for Guess Jewellery Collections.

The role is responsible for assisting the product development team with conceptual development as well as creating illustrated and technical designs as required.

By supervising the labour of the Designer Jewellery, he/she will work closely with product development team, sales and marketing and ensuring revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.

 

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research new trends and conduct market analysis
  • Supervise trend researches and the collection of them in an internal library, that is upgraded constantly
  • Create and present design moodboards and colour charts for each season
  • Develop new jewellery products/concepts that are consistent with business strategy, considering trend research and internal collection analysis
  • Execute designs that meet business goals and objectives
  • Create designs through sketching/rendering, developing technical drawings and assembled samples as needed to meet business objectives of Guess
  • Create drawings, technical sheets, graphics and seasonal look books
  • Coordinate and oversee the activities performed by the Designer Jewellery
  • Ensure that all design deadlines are met as needed based on the calendar
  • Work with the product development team, providing detailed specific information of materials to managers and factories
  • Ensure that the proper interpretation of designs is executed into actual samples
  • Maintain records and specifications for all designs, updating collection information documents as a communication tool for the product development team
  • Develop jewellery lines from sketch proposals to rendering, including technical specifications
  • Review calendar and make sure deadlines are respected, reminding involved parties and the junior colleague
  • Exchange daily communications with the product development team about the collection development status
  • Check with the PD team for correct balance among products, quality and cost wise
  • Receive and follow up information about quality issues for existing products in order to constantly improve design standards
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • Participate to exhibitions, fashion shows, and technical presentations
  • Visit manufacturers or trade shows, market browsing
  • Communicate with factories in order to provide comments and notes for all jewellery products

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Fashion and/or Design Arts
  • Previous experience (at least 5 years) in the same role and field (Jewellery Design)
  • Highly creative with a clear understanding of the Guess Brand DNA
  • Strong knowledge of fashion Jewels and upcoming related trends
  • Fashion eye with commercial awareness 
  • Ability to draw both technical drawings and free-form renderings/sketches
  • Innovative traits are necessary with strong attention to authentic details and with self-organized skills
  • Must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks/projects with adherence to deadlines and design calendar
  • Team player, dynamic personality, fast thinker, positive attitude and sense of urgency
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group at all levels
  • Leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-up
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Available for frequent travelling
  • Fluent English
  • Good knowledge of computer skills: Office, Outlook, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are mandatory; extensive computer experience in any other graphic program (such as Rhino Gold and Keyshot) will be a plus
